The kids cant make friends?

Michael Jackson’s kids Prince and Paris have been enrolled at the Buckley School, a K-12 private institution in Sherman Oaks, Calif. They start classes today but have been at the school for a few days; already there are reports that they’re having trouble fitting in because their bodyguards intimidate the other kids.

Bodyguards at school?

Prince and Paris have full-time bodyguards, who patrol the school’s parking lot and accompany the kids from class to class, to their lockers and even watch over them during lunch.

This kind of attention would seem to stifle their ability to fit in and make friends — two things that are important to young Prince, who was seeking a “social experience” by enrolling at the prestigious school. Sources tell us the Jackson’s are the only students at the exclusive school with a full-time security detail.

“The bodyguard situation really is a bit intimidating to other kids,” one parent, who has four kids at the school, tells . “And that makes them hesitant to approach Prince and Paris.”

Prince Pairs and Blanket Go to school

13-year-old Prince and 12-year-old Paris started at The Buckley School in the San Fernando Valley

Prince wanted to go to Buckley to have “a social experience.”  Initially, Paris was reluctant but changed her mind in a big way.

As for 8-year-old Blanket — he’s still going to be homeschooled. Katherine Jackson feels he’s too young to venture out.

Jermaine Jackson Says Michael’s Kids Are All Right

A year after their father’s untimely death, Michael Jackson’s children – Prince, 13, Paris, 12, and Blanket, 8 – are living a relatively normal life and seem to be thriving, according to Michael’s brother Jermaine

.

“My mother [Katherine] raised nine kids, so she definitely knows how to raise them,” Jermaine told PEOPLE on Tuesday night at a dinner celebrating the fifth annual Children Uniting Nations conference in Washington, D.C.

The kids are getting to do things children should enjoy, says Jermaine, 55 – hanging out with their cousins, playing video games and going to see animated movies. “We have dinners at different homes,” Jermaine says, and the families organize getaways together – including a trip to Hawaii around the first anniversary of Michael death last month.

As they grow older, it seems the love of entertainment is in their blood. “They love the film business, and they love being behind the scenes,” Jermaine says. “Blanket loves to dance and sing. Prince and Paris love movies. They can tell you about directors and producers and all that stuff.”

Jermaine, joined at the dinner by brother Randy, said family matriarch Katherine, who has full custody of her grandchildren, has been doing “a great job in keeping everybody together.”

We are still in mourning, he says, but I sense Michael’s presence in their lives. “I feel him everywhere,” Jermaine says. “I know Michael’s spirit is so much alive. He’s guiding me … us to just keep things going and keep things the way they’re supposed to be.”

MICHAEL JACKSON’s brother JERMAINE is convinced the late superstar wouldn’t be happy

MICHAEL JACKSON’s brother JERMAINE is convinced the late superstar wouldn’t be happy if he knew about his children‘s new found freedom – they are set to attend public school and can leave the house without wearing a veil.
Jackson’s mother Katherine was granted custody of the star’s three kids – Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12 and eight-year-old Blanket – after his death last year (09).
Since living with their grandmother, the children’s lives have changed dramatically and many of their father’s old rules have fallen by the wayside – including his desire to keep the youngsters out of the public eye. The children were allowed into the spotlight after Jackson’s death, appearing at his televised memorial, while Prince also gave a speech at the Grammy Awards.
Katherine has also let the children go out without their faces covered and agreed to let them attend public school for the first time – but Jackson’s brother Jermaine insists his late sibling would be worried about the changes.
He tells Britain’s Hello! magazine, “A lot of things he wouldn’t like. He didn’t want them to be all over the media, he wanted them to have a normal life, and it was hard with him so famous.”
But Jermaine is adamant the kids’ lives are changing for the better, adding, “They have to fit into society at some point, to become citizens… They’re going to go to a private school with other kids and know what it’s like to have a friend. Absolutely. It’s the best for them.”

La Toya Wishes Jackson Kids Would Wait For School

LA TOYA JACKSON wishes her brother MICHAEL’s children would “wait a bit longer” before starting school – because the trio will find the experience completely “foreign”.

The late King of Pop, who died a year ago on Friday (25Jun10), employed a private tutor to homeschool Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12 and eight-year-old Blanket because he wanted to shelter them from the outside world.

Jackson’s mother Katherine was named the youngsters’ guardian after the superstar passed away last year (09), and she has been allowing them more freedom – even agreeing to their request to start school in September (10).

La Toya admits she can understand why Michael laid down such strict rules for his children and wishes the kids would allow themselves some more time before taking the massive step of starting school.

She tells Britain’s GMTV, “The kids are doing very well… They’re having so much fun. They’re playing and they’re enjoying their lives… I think my mother is doing the best that she can for them, she’s doing a great job and they’re going out more than they’ve ever gone out, which is good for them at the moment.

“I don’t know if she’s doing it because their father is gone and she wants to make sure they’re happy. But, you know, Michael kept those children hidden. He kept them very restricted and confined them. He didn’t want them to be amongst the world and people of that nature. I understood why he did what he did, because he thought the world was so cruel and the world said cruel things and he didn’t want his kids hearing cruel things…

“It is going to be difficult (starting school). It’s a private school and we know the school very well because all of my nieces and nephews basically went there. Actually, they (Jackson’s kids) wanted to go, so my mother said yes to them. I wish that they’d maybe wait a little bit longer before because this is something… it’s a territory that’s very foreign to them. They have never been amongst other children at school.”
